| FDA Issues Warning Against Japan Rapid Weight Loss Diet Pills Yellow |
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a statement warning consumers not to purchase or use a product for weight loss sold online through various companies and distributed by Xiushentang. The product, Japan Rapid Weight Loss Diet Pills Yellow, contains a controlled substance that was removed from the market in October 2010 for safety reasons.
FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that the product contains sibutramine and phenolphthalein.
Sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and pulse rate and may present significant risks for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias or stroke.
Phenolphthalein is used in chemical experiments and is suspected of causing cancer. It is not approved for marketing in the United States and may interact with other medications in a life-threatening manner.
Consumers should immediately stop using this product and discard it. Consumers experiencing negative side effects as a result of using this product are encouraged to see a medical professional immediately.
