Payments Policy

Individual Memberships

We collect membership fees to support our efforts to both educate and protect consumers.

NCCC is a nonprofit 501 (c)(4) corporation. Membership fees are not currently tax deductible as per IRS regulations.

All monies paid to NCCC, including those accepted by third parties on our behalf, are non-refundable and non-transferable for any reason. Memberships that are cancelled by the member will not be refunded. Please be absolutely certain that you wish to join and hold a membership before you submit your payment as there is no option to change your mind after submitting your payment.

Members are invoiced upon their expiration dates and a renewal is never required, but is appreciated. You may extend your membership at any time. You may request at any time that we do not invoice you for a payment. A member who has previously cancelled a membership may re-activate membership by submitting a membership renewal.

We treat credit card charge backs seriously. Members who dispute membership fees will lose their membership status. Additionally, all credit union accounts opened using NCCC eligibility, including those opened by family members using family member eligibility, will be forfeited. Memberships cancelled under this policy may be reactivated upon receipt of a $55 processing fee and the entire disputed amount in a certified check or money order.

It is the responsibility of the member to notify any affiliated credit union if applying for financial services that membership is currently active at NCCC. It is the responsibility of the member to provide proof of membership or to direct the credit union representative to the member verification page. Members paying a membership fee to any credit union while already a member of NCCC will have that fee credited as additional membership time only. Membership in NCCC does not guarantee your acceptance in affiliated credit unions as you must qualify for their accounts separately.

We accept checks, money orders and any form of payment processed through Amazon and PayPal, including credit and debit cards. As we typically process memberships by mail, NCCC accesses a $1.99 convenience fee for the use of these online services. As of 1/17/2013, we no longer accept payments via Google Checkout due to poor customer service. Anyone submitting a payment through a third party payment service accepts all liabilty for any damages that may occur. These payment sites are not under the control of NCCC, though they are considered reliable.

We place a minimum two-week hold on all personal checks. To avoid delays, use a certified check, money order or online processing.

We will postmark a notice to you within three (3) business days via US mail when your membership or membership renewal has been processed. If you elect for email notification, our automated system will generate a confirmation within one business day. NCCC is not responsible for delays caused by the US Postal Service or by any Internet Service Provider.

Payments returned for insufficient funds will be assessed all fees as applicable under North Carolina law.

By submitting a payment to NCCC, you are agreeing to be bound by this policy.
