The North Carolina Consumers Council (NCCC) is a nonprofit, consumer advocacy organization that has been representing the consumers of North Carolina since 1968. NCCC is also affiliated with the Consumer Federation of America, a national consumer advocacy organization, and works with them toward common goals.
NCCC does not represent individual consumers. Instead, we represent the consumers of North Carolina and their interests as a whole. To carry out its purposes, NCCC researches consumer issues, attends and testifies at government meetings, authors op-ed articles, writes to and meets with legislators and government officials, assists in drafting and revising consumer legislation, and petitions consumer safety organizations specializing in product recalls.
NCCC holds an annual meeting of its members, holds board meetings, and publishes newsletters. NCCC members are invited to the annual meeting, typically held every March, which focuses on current issues and the direction of the organization.
NCCC works with various statewide agencies on multiple issues. Our position on a given consumer issue is determined by membership resolutions and by vote at the annual meeting. Actions may be taken by the Board of Directors on issues requiring more timely input.
