Vietti Foods has initiated a recall for 15 oz. cans of Southgate Hot Dog Chili Sauce.

Due to mislabeling, some cans of the Hot Dog Chili Sauce may actually contain Dumplings with Chicken. The Dumplings with Chicken contain egg and wheat that are not listed on the ingredient label for the chili sauce.

What's the risk?

People who have an allergy to eggs and/or wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The affected cans of Southgate Hot Dog Chili Sauce each bear a UPC code of 0 71846 95242 6 and a lot number of P642 M1217 70026, which can be found on the bottom of the can.

Where was the product sold?

The recalled chili sauce was distributed and sold in 13 states including Alabama, Ohio, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia.

No illnesses connected to this recall have been reported, to date.

Vietti says that the labeling problem occurred at the end of one production run and has not affected any other products.

What should consumers do?

Consumers who have purchased any of the impacted Southgate Hot Dog Chili Sauce are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
