Dog and cat owners should be wary of what they're feeding their pets after several industry recalls were announced over the past week.

Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies

First, Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies is withdrawing its Welcome Home Duck Jerky and Duck Treats from stores. An analysis conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed trace amounts of antibiotic and antiviral agents not approved for use in poultry in the United States.

The recall applies to all product dated before 01/22/2017. The company has received no reports of sickness in pets to date.

Customers are advised to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or exchange.

For more information about this recall, contact Centinela at or (310) 212-1000.

Stella and Chewy's

Next, Stella and Chewy's is issuing a recall for about 990 cases of various products due to possible listeria contamination.

The company is including Chicken, Goose, and Beef Dinner Morsels after the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development conducted a positive test for listeria monocytogenes. For a list of the recalled items and associated UPCs and lot numbers, see the Dog Food Advisor release.

Listeria is both harmful to dogs and humans, who may become ill by handling the food and not properly washing their hands or contact surfaces.

The bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Customers in possession of the potentially tainted product should dispose of the food or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Stella and Chewy's Customer Service by phone at (888) 477-8977 or by email at

Lastly, MARS Petcare has recalled select lots of its Nutro dog treats due to the potential presence of mold.

The recall applies to Nutro Chewy Treats with Real Apples. The product is sold in a four ounce package, bearing the UPC 7910511344 and a lot code of 4 50, 5 02, 5 03, 5 05.

Customers should stop feeding these items to pets and bring the product to a PetSmart store for a full refund.
