Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 572,000 model year 2013-2014 Sonata and Santa Fe Sport vehicles.

Machining errors during manufacturing of the engines used in the affected vehicles may cause premature bearing wear within the engine. This bearing wear could result in the engine seizing, increasing the risk of a crash.

Hyundai will notify owners of the recalled Sonata and Santa Fe Sport vehicles and local dealers will inspect the engine, replacing the engine short block as necessary, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on May 19, 2017. Vehicle owners with additional questions can contact Hyundai customer service at (800) 633-5151.

Hyundai's reference number for this recall is 162.
