More than 97,000 model year 2009-2012 Audi Q5 and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet and S5 Cabriolet vehicles are included in the latest recall from Volkswagen Group of America.

Exploding Air Bag Inflators

On these vehicles—in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag—excessive internal pressure may cause the air bag inflator to explode.

If this occurs, metal fragments could enter the vehicle cabin as projectiles, potentially striking vehicle occupants and causing serious injury, or even death.

What happens next?

Audi will notify owners of the recalled Q5, A5, and S5 vehicles beginning in mid-February 2018. Audi dealers will then replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator at no cost to vehicle owners.
