BMW Announces Recall of Nearly 30,000 X5 Vehicles Due to Risk of Steering Loss
BMW is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 X5 xDrive 35d SAV diesel vehicles. The engine belt idler pulley bolt on the recalled vehicles could loosen and break over time.
If the engine belt idler pulley bolt breaks, the vehicle may unexpectedly lose power-assisted steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
BMW will notify the owners of all affected X5 vehicles, and dealers will replace and tighten the idler pulley bolt.
All BMW X5 vehicles included in this recall were manufactured between September 1, 2008 and November 15, 2012.
