BMW Recalls Mini Cooper, Spare Tire Could Fall While Vehicle is in Use
BMW has announced that it is recalling MINI Cooper vehicles that are potentially dangerous.
The recall applies to 2014 MINI Cooper Hardtop 2-door vehicles. In the affected models, vibrations may cause a nut that secures the spare wheel to the underside of the car to loosen. If the tire separates from the vehicle, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of an accident.
About 5,800 vehicles are included in the recall.
BMW will notify owners affected by the recall, and dealers will replace the spare-wheel securing-nut with a self-locking nut, free of charge.
