Volkswagen (VW) has announced a recall for a pair of SUVs due to braking issues.

The automaker is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne vehicles. The brake pedal pivot pin may be missing a circlip, allowing the pivot pin to move and the brake pedal to dislodge.

If the brake pedal dislodges, the driver will not be able to apply the brakes, increasing the risk of a crash.

About 47,000 Touareg vehicles and 88,000 Cayenne vehicles are potentially defective.

Volkswagen and Porsche will notify owners, but has not yet provided a notification schedule. Dealers will inspect the brake pedal assembly to verify the presence of the circlip and install any missing ones, free of charge.

Owners with questions about these recalls can contact VW customer service at (800) 893-5298 and Porsche customer service at (800) 767-7243.
