BRP Issues Recall for Youth ATV Prone to Catching on Fire

October 8, 2015

A recreational products manufacturer is recalling a product due to a fire hazard.

This week, BRP announced the voluntary recall of two models of Youth Can-Am all-terrain vehicles, the DS 90 and the DS 90 X. In affected vehicles, the fuel filter can break and leak, which poses an increased risk of a fire. BRP is including about 240 vehicles in the recall.

The recalled vehicles have an engine size of 90 cubic centimeters. The vehicles came in black and yellow. Can-Am DS and the engine size are painted in white on both sides of the vehicle. Can-Am appears in white letters on both sides of the seat.

BRP has received eight reports of the fuel filter breaking and leaking at dealerships. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled products were sold at Can-Am dealers nationwide from May 2015 through September 2015 for between $2,800 and $3,800.

Owners should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a BRP dealer to schedule a free repair. BRP is notifying registered consumers directly about this recall.

Customers with questions can contact BRP at (888) 272-9222.
