Certain Pirelli Tires Were Manufactured Without Date Code
A missing date code would make the tire difficult to identify after a safety-related issue
Missing identifying information has prompted a tire recall from one manufacturer.
Pirelli Tire is recalling certain P Zero Trofeo tires, size 225/50RR15 91Y. The affected tires may not be marked with a date code.
Date codes are used to identify tires that may have safety-related issues. Without this identification, drivers may continue to use potentially unsafe tires, increasing the risk of a crash.
About 40 tires were manufactured without the date code, according to the company.
Pirelli will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires missing the date code, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during May 2016.
Owners with questions about this recall can contact Pirelli customer service at (800) 747-3554.
