IRS Where's My Refund?

March 30, 2016

Still waiting on your tax refund? The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is reminding taxpayers that they can quickly and easily check the status of their tax return and their tax refund at any time using the " Where's My Refund? " tool on IRS.gov or on the free smartphone application IRS2Go.

Initial information on the current status of your tax return and refund is typically available within 24 hours after the IRS receives your e-filed return or four weeks after mailing a paper return to the IRS.

The system updates only once every 24 hours, usually overnight, so there's no need to check your status more than once per day.

The IRS says that, so far this year, taxpayers have used "Where's My Refund?" more than 231 million times, an increase of nearly 35 percent over last year at this time.

Taxpayers without access to the internet can use the "Where's My Refund?" tool by calling toll-free 800-829-1954, 24 hours a day.

Check the status of your tax refund now!

For those that haven't yet filed their taxes, the filing deadline this year is Monday, April 18.
