Chest of Drawers Sold Exclusively on Recalled Due to Serious Tipping Hazard

About 8,000 affected chests were sold online from April 2016 through June 2016

August 17, 2016

Sauder Woodworking has issued a recall for certain four-drawer wooden chests. The chests were manufactured between April 2016 and June 2016.

The recalled chests are unstable unless they are properly anchored to the wall, posing a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard that could result in death or serious injuries to children.

No injuries have been reported to date.

The white laminated chests, sold under the Storybook Brand (model number 416407), have a single white wood pull on each drawer. The chests measure 42.13 inches high by 29.25 inches wide and 16.25 inches deep. The hazardous chests have a label with the date code in the MM/YYYY format located on the back of the unit. The affected units' dates are 04/2016, 05/2016, and 06/2016.

The recalled chests were sold exclusively online from April 2016 through June 2016.

Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chests that are not properly anchored to the wall and place them in an area that children cannot access.

Sauder Woodworking is contacting all known purchasers directly and sending free repair kits and wall anchoring kits. Affected consumers will have the choice of the free repair and wall anchoring kits or a full refund.

Consumers who request a refund will be provided instructions by Sauder on how to properly dispose of the chests.
