General Motors (GM) is recalling approximately 4,800 Chevrolet vehicles because the windshield wipers may become inoperative.

According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the windshield wiper motor gear teeth on certain model year 2013-2014 Caprice and 2014 SS cars may strip, causing the wipers to stop working. This poses a safety hazard to those who are driving in the rain or snow.

This recall is expected to begin in early August. Owners of the affected Caprice and SS vehicles will be notified by GM, and local dealers will inspect the wiper module assembly and replace the equipment, as needed, free of charge.
