General Motors (GM) has issued a recall affecting model year 2014-2016 Chevrolet SS vehicles.

On the impacted vehicles—corrosion of the connector between the electric power steering module and the torque sensor connector may cause a loss of electric power steering assist.

A greater steering effort would be required to control the vehicle if power steering is lost, increasing the risk of a crash.

Approximately 6,200 Chevrolet SS vehicles are included in this recall.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be notified by GM. Local Chevrolet dealers will then inspect the steering gear assembly, replacing it as necessary. This repair will be made free of charge to vehicle owners.
