Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles.

On the affected vehicles, improper welds on the driver's knee airbag inflator may prevent the airbag from properly inflating.

If the driver's knee airbag does not properly inflate, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

An estimated 88 Jeep Cherokee vehicles are impacted by this recall, all of which were manufactured between October 13, 2016 and October 17, 2016.

Chrysler will notify owners of the recalled vehicles, and local Jeep dealers will replace the driver's knee airbag module, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on November 18, 2016. Owners with questions can contact Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403.

Chrysler's reference number for this recall is S84.
