Chrysler has issued a recall affecting approximately 182,300 model year 2016-2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles.

In certain crash conditions, the front impact sensor wiring on the affected vehicles may be pulled until it detaches before a signal can be received by the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).

If the ORC module does not receive a signal from the front impact sensor, both frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

The Jeep Wrangler vehicles included in this recall were all manufactured between June 16, 2015 and August 14, 2016.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Vehicle owners with further questions can contact Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403.

Chrysler's reference number for this recall is S76.
