The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is mailing refund checks totaling $42,580.45 to 1,274 consumers who bought a worthless fuel additive called EnviroTabs.

The marketer of EnviroTabs, Green Foot Global LLC, touted the fuel additive as the "World's 1st Multi-Vitamin for Your Engine!" and falsely claimed that it would increase fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and save consumers money.

Consumers are receiving full refunds. Each affected consumer will receive an average of $33.42. Those who receive the checks from the FTC's refund administrator should cash them within 60 days of the mailing date.

A reminder: The FTC never requires consumers to pay money or to provide personal information before redress checks can be cashed.

Those with questions should contact the FTC's refund administrator in this matter, Rust Consulting Inc., at 855-720-6804.
