The vegetable recall from CRF Frozen Foods continues to expand, with announcements from two more companies indicating that its products are contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

First, ConAgra Foods is voluntarily recalling Watts Brothers Farms Organic Mixed Vegetables, Organic Super Sweet Corn (Yellow/Gold), and Organic Peas and Trader Joe's Organic Super Sweet Corn. These products were sold in various sizes of plastic packages with zippers. For a list of the product names, weights, best-before dates, and package codes, see the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) release.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with these products, which were sold at Costco and Trader Joe's stores nationwide.

Consumers who have purchased these items are advised to discard them or return them to the store where originally purchased.

Next, Pita Pal is recalling its Corn Relish Salad, Texas Caviar Salad, Mediterranean 3 Bean Salad, and Chipotle Quinoa Salad due to the same issue. All products were sold in plastic containers with snap on lids. The affected packages will have an expiration date or use/freeze-by date of 06/13/2016. For a list of the sizes associated with the recalled products, see the FDA release for Pita Pal.

The affected items were sent to retail stores and food service distributors in California, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Customers with the affected product on hand should return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Listeria can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that is sometimes fatal in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
