Daimler Trucks North America has issued a safety recall affecting certain model year 2018 Freightliner Cascadia, M2 Business Class, 114SD, and 122SD trucks, and Western Star 4700 and 5700 trucks.

What's the problem?

The recalled trucks have tow hooks used for recovery purposes that may fail during use.

If the tow hook fails without warning during a recovery operation, the sudden release of the vehicle may increase the risk of injury.

Approximately 2,480 Freightliner and Western Star trucks are impacted by this recall.

What happens next?

Daimler Trucks will notify owners of the recalled trucks beginning in mid-September 2017. Dealers will then inspect the vehicle's tow hooks and, depending on their production date codes, will replace them. These repairs will be completed free of charge to vehicle owners.
