Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling vehicles with a faulty powertrain.

The truck manufacturer is issuing a voluntarily recall for certain model year 2014 Granite (GU) trucks that are equipped with drive axles manufactured by Marmon-Herrington. The affected axles are equipped with hex nuts on the flange yoke that may not have been properly tightened.

If the hex nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft may disconnect from the drive axle, resulting in a loss of propulsion and increasing the risk of a crash.

Mack believes that eight trucks are impacted by this defect.

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the hex nut, tightening it to proper torque, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on November 30, 2015.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact Mack customer service at (800) 528-6586.
