Bluecar SAS is issuing a recall for vehicles due to an issue with the powertrain .

The automaker, a newcomer to the U.S. market, is recalling certain model year 2016 Bluecar hybrid-electric vehicles. The affected vehicles have a gear shift lever that may break, preventing the car from maintaining the intended gear position.

If the gear shift lever breaks, the vehicle may become immobilized, increasing the risk of a crash.

Bluecar is including about 150 in this recall, which are primarily owned by the City of Indianapolis. The city uses the vehicles in a public car sharing program called BlueIndy.

The company has already notified the City of Indianapolis and repairs have started. Customers with questions can contact BlueIndy at (800) 329-2058.
