Winnebago has announced a recall for motorhomes with faulty electronics.

The RV manufacturer is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Winnebago Travato, Trend, and Itasca Viva! motorhomes. The affected vehicles have an ignition switch that may experience an intermittent loss of electrical contact.

Similar to the problem that continues to plague General Motors, this will cause the engine to lose power and with it the motorhome's safety equiptment, like airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control.

This not only increases the risk of a crash, but the risk of injury should one occure.

Winnebago believes that about 360 vehicles are affected by this issue.

Chrysler (maker of the motorhome chassis) will notify owners, and Chrysler dealers will replace the ignition switch contact holder block, free of charge. Owners were sent interim notices in January 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Chrysler customer service at (800) 853-1403 and Winnebago customer service at (641) 585-3535.
