Two people were injured when the pedal extenders used on their bicycles broke.

As a result of the injuries, and eight additional reports, about 6,500 Specialized Body Geometry Pedal Axle Extenders have been recalled.

The extenders are used to increase the outward reach of the pedals and are mounted directly into the bicycle crank arms. The extenders were sold in pairs at authorized Specialized retailers and online from January 2009 to June 2015 for about $40.

Cyclists should stop using the recalled pedal extenders immediately and return them to an authorized Specialized retailer for a full refund.
