Helmet City is issuing a recall for motorcycle equipment due to ineffective safety straps.

The manufacturer is recalling certain model 115 German helmets, size XL. The helmet straps may stretch excessively during a crash, which violates federal retention requirements.

If the helmet straps stretch significantly in the event of a crash, the helmet may not remain secured to the user's head increasing their risk of injury.

The company is including about 270 helmets in this recall.

Helmet City will notify owners and will replace the model 115 helmets with a model 100 helmet, free of charge. The recall began on February 19, 2016.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Helmet City customer service at (888) 550-3731.
