Salsa Cycles is recalling a line of bicycle forks because they can bend or break, posing a fall hazard for the rider.

About 2,500 Salsa Bearpaw bike forks sold individually and as part of the Mukluk bicycles are affected by the recall.

The forks have date code 20130524, 20130710 or 20130826 stamped on the fork steerer, followed by CWI2201BAN2. Consumers or the dealer will need to disassemble the front of the bicycle to access the steerer tube with the date code and model information.

They were sold in bicycle stores nationwide and online at various websites from September 2013 through November 2014 for about $250 separately and for between $1,850 and $4,400 for the bicycles.

Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled Salsa Bearpaw forks and contact a dealer for a free inspection and replacement fork.
