Defective Seat-Back Frame Leads to Recall of Chevrolet Sonic Vehicles

General Motors (GM) has announced the recall of certain model year 2018 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles.
What's the problem?
On the affected vehicles, a joint in the driver's seat-back frame may not be properly welded, reducing the strength of the seat-back frame.
In the event of a rear-impact collision, the seat-back may fail, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
What happens next?
GM will notify owners of the recalled Chevrolet Sonic vehicles in the coming weeks. Local dealers will then replace the driver's seat-back, free of charge.
