DICK'S Sporting Goods has issued a recall for its Fitness Gear Inversion Table due to safety concerns and deceptive claims made about its intended use.

The company has received reports that some customers have fallen and sustained injuries while using the table.

DICK's is also removing specific claims about the product's use from its packaging and marketing that could unintentionally lead buyers to believe the inversion table is a medical device and not a piece of fitness equipment.

The original packaging and marketing claimed that the product helped reduce back stress, relieves muscle pain, stimulates circulation and reduces the effects of aging.

Customers who purchased the table between November 2011 and September 2014 in person or online can return it for a full refund in the form of a store gift card.

Health care professionals and customers can report adverse events or quality problems experienced with the use of this product to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program.

For more information, customers can contact DICK'S customer service at (866) 677-4771.
