Dishwasher Power Cord Fire Hazard Prompts Recall from Four Brands

A faulty power cord is triggering a recall from four dishwasher brands.

The cords, manufactured by BSH Home Appliances, are found in several dishwasher models from Bosch, Gaggenau, Kenmore Elite, and Thermador. The defective products are prone to overheating, posing a fire hazard.

The faulty power cords were manufactured between January 2008 and December 2013. They were sold at Appliance and specialty retailers, department stores, authorized builder distributors, home improvement stores nationwide and online between January 2009 and May 2014 for between $850 and $2600.

BSH has received 10 reports of the electrical cord overheating, including five reports of fire resulting in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the dishwasher and contact BSH Home Appliances for a free inspection and repair.
