Electric Bicycle Conversion Wheels Recalled Due to Fall and Crash Hazards

Superpedestrian has issued a recall for 230 electric bicycle conversion wheels as a result of fall and crash hazards.

The rear axle on the wheels may fail.

RECALLED PRODUCT DETAILS

The affected wheels include Copenhagen Wheel electric bicycle conversion wheels with serial numbers 01031708600020000000 through 01031710400250000000 for multi-speed wheels and 02031708600020000000 through 02031710400250000000 for single-speed wheels. The wheels, which convert standard bicycles into electric bicycles, are compatible with 26-inch and 700c (about 28 inches) wheel sizes.

All components are located inside the red wheel hub, while a white Superpedestrian logo can be found on the hub. The serial number is located on the user interface panel of the wheel just above the axle.

WHERE WERE THE PRODUCTS SOLD?

The wheels were sold only on the company's official website from March 2017 until April 2017. They cost $1,500.

WHAT SHOULD CONSUMERS DO?

To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Nevertheless, consumers are urged to stop using the affected wheels immediately and to contact the company for a free replacement wheel.
