Elevated pH Levels Prompt Coffee Recall from Red Diamond

February 25, 2016

Red Diamond has announced a recall for products that were not manufactured properly.

The announcement from the coffee and tea distributor applies to its Colombian blend, caffeinated and decaffeinated, and European Roast. The products have elevated pH levels, making the coffee acidified.

The recalled items were sold in half gallon containers, bearing item number 111591, 111589, or 111590. The company believes that 302 packages of Colombian caffeinated are affected, while 136 Colombian decaffeinated and 22 European Roast are in doubt.

Red Diamond sent the affected product to retail locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, and Texas.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers this action to be a Class II recall, meaning that exposure to this product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The risk of serious health issues is small.

Customers with questions about this recall can contact Red Diamond at (800) 292-4651.
