Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is issuing a recall for vehicles with potential engine issues.

The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles that are powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). The affected vehicles have a tailpipe that allows hot exhaust to exit near the CNG tank pressure relief device (PRD).

Hot exhaust may cause the CNG to be unexpectedly released from the tank. Discharge of CNG in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

DTNA believes that almost 20 vehicles are impacted by this defect.

The company will notify owners, and dealers will extend the tailpipe beyond the pressure relief device, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 1, 2016.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact DTNA customer service at (800) 745-8000.
