Excess Plastic Prompts Bacon Fritter Recall from McCain Foods

McCain Foods has announced a recall for a breakfast product that may contain unintended materials.

The company is voluntarily recalling about 25,000 pounds of bacon fritters due to a customer complaint indicating the presence of excess plastic. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product.

The recalled item is the McCain Early Risers Potato, Egg, Cheese & Bacon Fritter. About 1,700 cases are included, each containing four 3.75 pound plastic vacuum-packed packages that bear batch number 1001487402. In addition, establishment number EST. 18846 can be found inside the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) mark of inspection.

These items were shipped to food service distributors in Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, and Utah.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
