Exmark Recalls Quest Riding Mower Due to Fuel Filter Safety Concern

November 24, 2015

Unreliable fuel filters are prompting the recall of a line of lawnmowers from the manufacturer.

Exmark Manufacturing Co. is recalling the 2015 Quest Riding Mower in response to reports that its fuel filters can become brittle and fractured, allowing fuel to leak and posing a fire hazard. Exmark is recalling about 500 mowers due to this defective piece of equipment.

The 2015 Quest riding mowers are red black, and gray. Exmark is printed on the sides and in front of the operator seat. Quest is printed on the front of the riding mowers. The model number and serial number are located on a decal affixed to the frame, under the seat. The recalled mode number is QTS452CEM34200 and serial numbers ranging from 315606482 to 315628458.

Consumers could purchase these mowers at hardware, lawn and garden stores nationwide from November 2014 through October 2015 for about $3,700.

The firm has received one report of fuel leaking. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact an Exmark dealer to schedule a free repair. Individuals with registered mowers will receive a letter and a fuel filter, and may contact an Exmark Dealer if they are uncomfortable with the replacement procedure.

Customers with questions about the recall can contact Exmark at (800) 667-5296.
