Drone popularity has surged among consumers over the past several years, so it shouldn't be a surprise if more of the devices than usual fly the skies during the July 4th holiday.

This being said, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is urging all of those who fly drones to observe the aviation safety rules when flying.

Some general guidelines include:

  • Do not fly a drone in or close to fireworks
  • Do not fly a drone over people
  • Do not fly a drone close to an airport

For more specific information about what drone flyers are and are not allowed to do, you can either visit the FAA's drone webpage or download the free B4UFLY app for mobile devices, which is available in both the Apple and Google Play stores.

Following these rules will help keep both drone flyers and others safe during the holiday. Happy 4th!
