Faulty Seat Plate Leads to Recall of Chair from Office Depot

January 7, 2016

If you value reliably staying upright when you're working, this office chair may not be for you.

Office Depot is issuing a recall for about 300,000 Crawley II executive chairs due to the seat plate weld's susceptibility to breaking. This condition poses a fall hazard to users.

The company has received eight incident reports from consumers, though none have resulted in injury.

The Crawley II is a black, high-back, adjustable chair with a black base and five wheels. The affected chairs have Office Depot SKU number 493822 or OfficeMax item number 23324118 and US REG. No. PA 25917(CN) printed on a label located on the underside of the seat cushion.

Customers could purchase these chairs at Office Depot and OfficeMax retail stores nationwide and online from October 2012 through September 2015 for about $140.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chair and contact Office Depot to receive a free replacement seat plate that consumers can install at home.

Individuals with questions about this recall can contact Office Depot customer service at (855) 743-7701.
