Faulty Seatbelt Anchors Prompt Motorhome Recall from Jayco

January 7, 2016

Jayco has announced a recall for motorhomes with unsafe seatbelts.

The recreational vehicle manufacturer's recall applies to certain model year 2016 Alante motorhomes. The affected vehicles have dinette seats with seatbelts that may not have the proper plate to anchor the necessary brackets. This can allow the seatbelt end to detach from the vehicle in the event of a crash.

A seatbelt that is not properly anchored to the vehicle may not restrain the occupant in a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

This defect puts the Atlante motorhomes in violation of the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Jayco believes that 67 vehicles are impacted by this issue.

The manufacturer will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct seatbelt bracket backer plate, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact Jayco customer service at (800) 517-9137.
