August 7, 2014

With flea and tick season in full swing, dog owners now have another option to prevent those itchy and potentially dangerous bites, along with all the other headaches that come with flea infestation.

In June of this year, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a new oral flea and tick medication that will prevent fleas and certain types of ticks for up to three months.

The new oral medication, called BRAVECTO, requires a prescription from a veterinarian and is marketed by Intervet, Inc.

A PDF of the original drug application can be found here, or on the FDA's veterinary website.
