Labor Day weekend is only a few days away and millions of travelers will be hopping on planes, trains and automobiles to head to their favorite destinations.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently released a video to answer some common questions about traveling with prescription medications.

Some key points include:

  • Medications approved in one country could be illegal in another.
  • Medications should be in their original prescription packaging. A doctor's letter or a copy of the prescription would be appropriate if the original packaging isn't available.
  • Medications in tablet form is allowed on planes, so long as they are first screened by the Transportation Security Administration.
  • Travelers should carry detailed information about their medications in case of an emergency.
