A malfunctioning airbag is prompting a recall from Fiat Chrysler.

The automaker is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2015 Fiat 500L vehicles. The affected vehicles may be equipped with a passenger frontal airbag that was not folded properly during the assembly process. As a result, the airbag may not deploy as designed, leaving the front seat occupant more susceptible to injury in the event of a crash.

These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Fiat is including only 15 vehicles in this recall.

Fiat will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 6, 2015.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact Fiat customer service at (888) 242-6342.
