RNG Group has announced a recall for solar panels that may produce more heat than they collect.

The company is recalling the Renogy brand 100-watt bendable solar panels after reports indicating that the panels can overheat, posing a fire risk. The firm has received 11 reports of overheating, including three reports of property damage. No injuries have been reported.

RNG is including about 1,500 units in the recall.

The recalled solar panels are black plastic sheets about 41 inches long by about 21 inches wide by about 1/8 inch thick. Model number RNG-100DB is on the top of the panel, either on the front or back.

Consumers could purchase these items online from May 2015 through October 2015 for about $300.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled solar panels and return them to RNG for free replacements.

Customers with questions about the recall can contact RNG by phone at (800) 330-8678 or by email at customerservice@renogy.com.
