Fire Risk Due to Faulty Wiring Leads to Recall from Airstream
A recreational vehicle manufacturer is issuing a recall due to an electrical system defect.
Airstream, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Interstate Grand Tour Extended vehicles and Interstate Lounge Extended vehicles. The affected vehicles may have electrical wiring connections that were not properly tightened and an interior wiring harness grounding wire that was installed incorrectly.
If the electrical connections are loose, or the ground wire is located incorrectly, the wiring may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
Airstream is including about 550 recreational vehicles in this recall.
Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will tighten all the wiring connections and relocate the wiring harness ground wire, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 2, 2015.
Owners with questions about the recall can contact Airstream customer service at (937) 596-6111, extension 7401 or 7411.
