Fire Risk Leads to Recall of More Than 216,000 Audi A4, A5, and Q5 Vehicles

Volkswagen Group of America has issued a recall for approximately 216,440 model year 2013-2016 Audi A5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet, A4 Sedan, A4 Allroad, and Q5 vehicles.

What's the problem?

On the affected vehicles, contact corrosion within the electrical connector for the auxiliary heater may cause the heater wires to overheat or melt.

The melted wires can increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

What happens next?

Audi will notify owners of the recalled A4, A5, and Q5 vehicles. Audi dealers will then replace the auxiliary heater. The software will also be updated, as necessary. These repairs will be completed free of charge to vehicle owners.

The manufacturer has not yet provided a specific owner notification and remedy schedule for this recall.
