General Motors (GM) is recalling approximately 300,000 model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with 4.3L or 5.3L engines.

When the engine in the affected vehicles is idling in cold temperatures, the exhaust components can overheat. If this overheating occurs, nearby plastic parts could melt and may lead to an engine fire.

General Motors will notify the owners of all recalled Silverado and Sierra vehicles, and local GM dealers will reprogram the engine control module free of charge.

For more information on this recall, contact Chevrolet toll-free at 800-222-1020 or GMC at 800-462-8782. GM's campaign ID number for this recall is 14008.
