Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 170 model year 2017 Ford F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD trucks.

On the affected trucks, the protective shield on the fuel conditioning module may have inadequate adhesion, allowing the shield to become dislodged. If the shield becomes dislodged, the drain valve may open, resulting in a fuel leak.

A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a vehicle fire. Under certain conditions, significant liquid fuel on the road surface may also cause a slip hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Ford F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD trucks included in this recall were all manufactured between March 21, 2016 and August 28, 2016.

Ford will notify owners, and Ford dealers will replace the protective shield on the recalled trucks, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on November 7, 2016. For more information, owners can contact Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332.

Ford's reference number for this recall is 16S39.
