Ford Motor Company has issued a recall of certain model year 2017 Ford Fusion vehicles. The left rear seat backs pivot pins on the affected vehicles may have been improperly welded.

During a crash, the improper welds may fail, allowing any stowed luggage in the vehicle to move into the passenger compartment, increasing the risk of injury.

The Fusion vehicles included in this recall were all manufactured on September 27 and September 28, 2016.

Ford will notify owners of the recalled vehicles, and Ford dealers will replace the left hand, second row seat back frame, free of charge.

This recall is expected to begin on January 9, 2017. For further information, vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332.

Ford's reference number for this recall is 16S43.
