An issue impacting the axle is prompting a recall of Freightliner motorhome chassis.

Parent company Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Freightliner XBS, XCL, XCS, XCR and XCM models equipped with Detroit front axles. The front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle, causing the mounting bolts to bend or loosen.

If the sway bar bolts loosen, the sway bar may detach from the axle. This condition would affect the handling and increase the risk of a crash.

More than 800 chassis are impacted by this recall.

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will modify the mounting of the sway bar, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 7, 2016.

Owners with questions about this recall can contact DTNA customer service at (800) 745-8000.
