Frozen Sweet Peas Sold at Aldi Stores Recalled Due to Risk of Listeria Contamination

Lakeside Foods is recalling 1,568 packages of 16 ounce Season's Choice Brand Frozen Peas that were packed for Aldi, Inc. and distributed in seven states. The recalled peas have the potential to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The affected Season's Choice frozen peas were sold at Aldi Stores in Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, and Wisconsin. The recalled peas come in poly bags with the following label codes:

Season's Choice Sweet Peas, Net Weight 16 oz (1 LB) 454 g, UPC code 041498164294.

No other Lakeside Foods or Aldi products are affected by this recall.

All of the affected packages of Season's Choice Sweet Peas have been removed from store shelves. The company has not received any consumer complaints related to this recall and is not aware of any illnesses.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled peas should discard them immediately or return them to their local Aldi store for a full refund.
