A fuel system defect is prompting a recall from one automaker.

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain model year 2015 S550 Hybrid vehicles. In the affected vehicles, after driving in electric mode, the fuel pump output may be insufficient to restart the gasoline engine and the vehicle will stall.A vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling four vehicles in connection with this flaw.

The company first investigated the issue in September 2014, based on reports from vehicles outside the U.S. market. A software update was developed to fix the issue, but a low occurrence rate still exists, leading to the recall decision by Mercedes-Benz.

The automaker will notify owners, and dealers will update the fuel system control unit software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in November 2015.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact Mercedes-Benz customer service at (800) 367-6372.
